Today, I would like to introduce a hero book, which contains the affection of the Children's Team of the Affiliated High School of Normal University for the uncles of the Yang Lian Di Company of the Volunteer Army. Flipping through the pages of the hero book, those precious and moving words from the past are so valuable.

The picture shows the hero book praising the heroes of the Yang Lian Di Company of the Volunteer Army in December 1952.
The hero book has 89 pages, with text on the first 10 pages. The first page is titled "Hero Book", and the following pages contain letters from various teams and squads of the second detachment of the Children's Team of the Affiliated High School of Normal University to the uncles of the Yang Lian Di Company. One page reads: Dear uncles of the Yang Lian Di Company, I promise to study hard and become a well-rounded person to meet the tasks entrusted to us by our country. Respectfully, Chen Xiulian, a member of the second squad of the fifth team of the second detachment.

The picture shows Yang Lian Di, a first-class hero and special merit recipient of the Volunteer Army.
Yang Lian Di was the deputy commander of the 1st Company of the 1st Regiment of the 1st Division of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army Railway Corps. At that time, he fought alongside his troops across various railway bridges on the front lines in Korea, successfully completing urgent repair tasks multiple times. In October 1950, Yang Lian Di, who had been awarded the title of "Hero of Climbing High" during the Liberation War, was sent to the banks of the Yalu River with the 8th Company of the 1st Regiment of the 11th Division of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army. By then, the Yalu River was already freezing cold, and the 8th Company received orders to repair the floating bridge over the Yalu River overnight. The heavy wooden sleepers, each weighing over a hundred pounds, had to be carried on the soldiers' shoulders, with each soldier needing to carry more than 30 of them overnight. In such cold weather, with no lighting and the constant threat of enemy bombings, the difficulties were unimaginable. However, Yang Lian Di and his comrades gritted their teeth and successfully completed the repair of the floating bridge. In March 1952, Yang Lian Di, who had become the deputy commander, returned to Korea. In May, enemy planes began bombing the Qingchuan River Bridge again. One morning, just after a batch of enemy planes had left, Yang Lian Di led his comrades into the repair site. Just as he was directing the construction of the beams, a buried time bomb suddenly exploded, shrapnel hitting his head, and blood spilled on the bridge construction site. His comrades called out his name, hoping he would wake up. However, the 33-year-old "Hero of Climbing High" Yang Lian Di closed his eyes forever.

The picture shows Yang Lian Di directing soldiers to build the bridge at the repair site.
This railway soldier hero shed his blood to protect the steel transport line along the beautiful and winding banks of the Qingchuan River. He dedicated his precious life to the revolutionary cause of the Chinese and Korean people. The leadership of the Volunteer Army awarded Yang Lian Di special merit, conferred upon him the title of "First-Class Combat Hero", and named the company he served in during his lifetime as "Yang Lian Di Company". The Democratic People's Republic of Korea awarded Yang Lian Di the title of "Hero of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea" and the first-class national flag medal and gold star medal.
Every hero is a legend,
and a heavy memory for the nation.
The people will not forget them, the country will not forget them,
Salute to the "most lovable people"!
