Do you all know which battle was the most intense during the Nanchang Uprising's southward campaign?
That's right. It was the bloody Battle of Sanheba. Today, Xiaojun will tell you about the revolutionary martyr who sacrificed his life in the Battle of Sanheba—Cai Qingchuan.
Cai Qingchuan (1903—1927), from Shimen, Hunan, went to Guangzhou in 1925, enrolled in the third class of the Whampoa Military Academy to study infantry, and joined the Communist Party of China. After graduation, he joined the armored vehicle team of the Grand Marshal's Office, serving as the deputy commander of the third company. He later participated in the Northern Expedition, serving as a platoon leader and company commander in the 4th Army of the National Revolutionary Army's Ye Ting Independent Regiment. In August 1927, he participated in the Nanchang Uprising, serving as the acting commander of the 73rd Regiment of the 25th Division of the 11th Army. During the Battle of Sanheba, Cai Qingchuan took the initiative to lead the 3rd Battalion of the 75th Regiment to stay behind and cover the main force's retreat. After firing the last bullet and exhausting all his strength, he heroically sacrificed his life at the age of only 24.
Unfortunately, due to the early sacrifice of martyr Cai Qingchuan, not much information has been left behind.
