This comic banner is made of white bamboo cloth, measuring 86 cm in height and 200 cm in width, and is a horizontal ink painting. The title of the comic is: "The Workers' and Peasants' Red Army Unite and Arm Themselves to Break Through the Enemy's Five Encirclements." The entire content of the painting is divided into three sections: 1. The new plans of imperialism; 2. The five encirclements by the Kuomintang; 3. The Workers' and Peasants' Red Army unites and arms itself to break through the enemy's five encirclements. The entire painting is basically intact, with clear and complete patterns and titles, and is currently housed in the Hengfeng County Museum as a first-class cultural relic. This comic banner is the highest quality work created during the Soviet area, authored by Peng Youren, the Minister of the Propaganda Department of the Fujian-Zhejiang-Jiangxi Provincial Committee.

Peng Youren (1903-1935) was from Yugan County, Jiangxi. He joined the Communist Party of China in 1924. During the May Thirtieth Movement, Peng Youren used his brush to work day and night with students from the Shanghai Student Union's Propaganda Department to produce a large number of propaganda materials in support of the May Fourth Movement. In the summer of 1925, after graduating from the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts, Peng returned to his hometown to teach at Yuting Middle School, actively promoting Marxism and organizing young students to participate in revolutionary activities.
In 1930, Peng Youren went to the Soviet area, following Fang Zhimin to devote himself to the revolutionary cause. He was subsequently assigned to work in the Propaganda Department of the Northeast Jiangxi Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (which was soon renamed the Fujian-Zhejiang-Jiangxi Province). Peng Youren was proficient in calligraphy and painting, and this specialty was fully utilized in the Propaganda Department. He established the Soviet "Art Studio" and served as its director. His illustrations appeared in the party and youth publications "Attack" and "Youth Truth"; he also created special editions for "Red Northeast" and the provincial Soviet "Workers' and Peasants' News" with titles like "Conduct Labor Competitions" and "Fight to Eliminate Wasteland and Barren Land." To maximize the special effects of propaganda paintings, Peng Youren used white bamboo cloth as the canvas, creating over 300 paintings depicting political situations and the festive content of performances by the Workers' and Peasants' Theater, which traveled with the troupe. Whenever the troupe performed in a location, the first event was to visit this unique art exhibition, with actors serving as guides to widely promote Soviet and Red Army policies and mobilize the masses to actively participate in the revolution.
The comic banner collected by the Hengfeng County Museum was created by Peng Youren on the eve of the fifth anti-encirclement campaign in 1934. The comic vividly and exaggeratedly reveals the reactionary nature of imperialism's invasion of China, which secretly instigated and strongly supported the Kuomintang's attack on the Soviet area, calling for the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army to unite and break the Kuomintang's fifth encirclement. In this comic, one can see Peng Youren's profound painting skills. He made a special contribution to the cultural propaganda work in the Soviet area with his superb skills and fighting spirit. In January 1935, Peng Youren was killed in action in southern Anhui, at the age of only 32.
