The former site of the "August 1" Uprising Command is a modern representative building related to significant historical events and revolutionary movements (the August 1 Uprising), including: the General Command, He Long Command, Ye Ting Command, Zhu De's former residence, and the Zhu De Military Education Corps. It was announced as one of the first batch of national key cultural relics protection units in March 1961.
The General Command was originally the Jiangxi Grand Hotel, built in 1922 and completed in 1924, and put into use the same year. In late July 1927, after the troops preparing for the uprising arrived in Nanchang from Jiujiang, they rented the Jiangxi Grand Hotel as the General Command for the uprising.
