The August 1st Nanchang Uprising in 1927 marked the birth of the People's Liberation Army of China. After the founding of the country, the postal and telecommunications department issued stamps multiple times to commemorate the Army Day on August 1st.
On August 1, 1952, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications issued a set of 4 commemorative stamps for the 25th anniversary of the army, featuring images of soldiers from the army, navy, and air force, as well as cannons, warships, and airplanes.
On August 1, 1953, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications issued a set of 3 stamps (for military use), featuring the August 1st military emblem against backgrounds of yellow, blue, and purple. This was the first set of military stamps after the founding of our country.

On August 10 and December 15, 1957, a set of 4 commemorative stamps for the 30th anniversary of the army was issued, titled Nanchang Uprising, Jinggangshan Meeting, Eighth Route Army Crossing the Yellow River, and Liberation of Nanjing.
