Hello everyone, I am Lin Yanping, a guide at the Nanchang August 1st Uprising Memorial Museum. The summer of 2010 is still unforgettable for me. Experiencing the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea | My Captain is Wang Hai
Recently, Grandpa Sun Lin, who experienced the Korean War, shared his stories from that time. At 94 years old, he joined the Chinese Air Force in October 1950, right after graduating from the Fourth Aviation School in Shenyang. At that time, General Wang Hai, who passed away in August 2020, was the commander of the 1st Squadron of the 9th Regiment of the 3rd Air Division, where Sun Lin served. The "Wang Hai Squadron," led by Wang Hai, fought over 80 fierce battles against the U.S. Air Force, known as the "world's ace," shooting down or damaging 29 enemy aircraft, thus becoming a true ace squadron. And Sun Lin was the "doctor" for these ace planes.
