Representatives from the Zhou Enlai Spirit Research Association and 43 new college students from Nanchang in 2017 also participated in the event. The event was hosted by Sheng Wei, Secretary of the Youth League Municipal Committee.

Shi Zhan, Secretary-General of the Nanchang Youth Development Foundation, gave a brief introduction to the event. The Zhou Enlai Special Fund of the Central Party School is aimed at funding and rewarding research on Zhou Enlai's life, spirit, and related topics, as well as academic forums, theoretical discussions, cultural and artistic exhibitions, publicity, editing and publishing academic works, and film shooting. This is a significant special activity. The presence of Mr. Gu Jinming, founder of the Zhou Enlai Research Special Fund of the Central Party School, and Mr. Zhou Binghe, nephew of Premier Zhou Enlai and current Chairman of the Chinese Youth Knowledge Network, added luster to this public welfare event. They both delivered speeches, shared stories about Premier Zhou Enlai, affirmed the public welfare scholarship activity, and expressed their expectations.
The "August 1st Declaration" marks the basic formation of our party's strategy for establishing a united front against Japanese aggression, reflecting the desire of the people across the country to unite and resist Japan. Mr. Zhang Jiangshan, the special actor of Premier Zhou, read the August 1st Declaration on site, and his passionate tone stirred the emotions of everyone present.
With this surge of emotion, Wang Xiaoling, director of the August 1st Uprising Memorial Museum, accepted two donated items from Mr. Gu Jinming on behalf of the museum and expressed gratitude. The significance behind these two donations is extraordinary. The first is the first "August 1st Military Flag" bearing the August 1st Declaration in China, measuring 1.98 meters in height and 2.59 meters in width. The flag was created by descendants of the New Fourth Army and features the August 1st Declaration commemorating the 90th anniversary of the founding of the army. Before this August 1st, the flag visited several revolutionary sacred sites, including the Four Crossings of the Chishui River and the Zunyi Conference, and participated in large commemorative activities in various military units. The Military Museum also expressed interest in collecting it, but the Zhou Enlai Research Special Fund of the Central Party School believes it is more appropriate to keep it at the Nanchang August 1st Memorial Museum, as Nanchang is where the first shot was fired and where the military flag was born, so it should return home. The second item is a large velvet cutout of the "Five Leaders of the August 1st Uprising," measuring 1.98 meters in height and 2.59 meters in width, depicting a galloping horse and handcrafted from red and gold velvet in the likenesses of Zhou Enlai, Zhu De, He Long, Liu Bocheng, and Ye Ting, created without sketches and completed in one cut. The base is made of golden brocade, and the creator is Xing Haonan, who has previously set a Guinness record in Shanghai.

General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized that "poverty alleviation must include education," which means that children in impoverished areas should receive a good education. In response to the call for poverty alleviation in Nanchang, and to actively carry out targeted poverty alleviation to help outstanding students from poor families realize their dreams of attending college, the Nanchang Youth Development Foundation, under the guidance of the Youth League Municipal Committee, has launched multiple scholarship activities for new college students, jointly assisting economically disadvantaged new college students in Nanchang to achieve their dreams. During this public welfare event, scholarships were awarded to 43 impoverished new college students in 2017, and a representative of the beneficiaries also spoke, expressing their commitment to giving back to society, the country, and the party with excellent academic performance in the future.

At the end of the event, led by the young interpreters in red scarves and the interpreters from the August 1st Uprising Memorial Museum, everyone revisited the history of the August 1st Uprising and once again felt the spirit of August 1st: "Listening to the Party's command, daring to be the first, being unyielding, and striving for the people."
