(June 30, 1933)

On August 1, 1927, the Nanchang Uprising led by the proletarian party, the Communist Party, occurred. This uprising marked the beginning of the anti-imperialist land revolution and was the source of the brave Workers' and Peasants' Red Army. The Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army, through years of arduous warfare, has broken the repeated offensives of the imperialist Kuomintang, fundamentally shaking the Kuomintang's rule in China. It has become one of the basic levers of the revolutionary upsurge, the organizer of the revolutionary struggles of the Chinese working masses, and the main force in carrying out the national revolutionary war. This committee has decided to commemorate the Nanchang Uprising and the establishment of the Red Army by designating August 1 each year as the anniversary of the establishment of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army, starting from 1933.
We commemorate the establishment of the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army on August 1, which is also the day when the working and laboring masses around the world hold anti-imperialist wars every year. Especially at this moment when we decide to start commemorating, it is a time of extreme tension due to the new world war of imperialism and the war against the Soviet Union. Particularly, as the Kuomintang has signed a treasonous ceasefire agreement in North China with Japan and is moving troops to attack the Soviet and the Red Army, all our Red Army soldiers must learn and improve military and political knowledge to create a million-strong iron Red Army, completely crush the four encirclements by the imperialist Kuomintang, directly engage in combat with imperialism, armed support for the Soviet Union, oppose the imperialist war, and fight for the victory of the Soviet New China through practical actions to commemorate this glorious day.
