A Hanyang-made rifle serves as a flagpole, holding up an immortal banner. The fiery red August 1st military flag flies high above the hero city. Every day, countless people stop to pay their respects in front of the August 1st Nanchang Uprising Memorial Tower, gazing at the rifle and military flag at the top of the tower, staring at the heroic blood-soaked white marble relief, lost in thought.

A gray five-story building is one of the few old-style buildings on Zhongshan Road in Nanchang. Under the reflection of the towering pines and cypress trees, the August 1st Uprising Memorial Hall appears particularly solemn and dignified. This place was once called "Jiangxi Grand Hotel," where the command center of the uprising was located.

With the arrival of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party, a large number of tourists come every day to relive history, seeking answers to how the Communist Party led the Chinese revolution from victory to victory.

Li Yizhou, vice chairman of the CPPCC in Fuding City, Fujian Province, is visiting the August 1st Uprising Memorial Hall for the second time. This non-party member said: "Nanchang fired the first shot of the revolution, and then the spark from Jinggangshan spread to Yan'an, reaching the whole country, leading to the ultimate victory of the Chinese revolution. Without the blood and sacrifice of revolutionary martyrs, there would be no happy life today. Our generation must remember and uphold the leadership of the Communist Party; only then can China have a way out."

The firm ideals and beliefs of the Chinese Communists are silently conveyed in the hearts of visitors to the August 1st Uprising Memorial Hall. During an interview, the reporter heard a touching story. Two years ago, an 80-year-old paralyzed woman from Henan Province had a wish to visit the August 1st Uprising Memorial Hall. Her son and daughter-in-law brought her to Nanchang. The son carried his paralyzed mother from the first floor to the second floor, and from the second floor to the third floor... The memorial hall also sent two staff members to help carry the elderly woman, allowing her to hear all the explanations.

On the first floor of the August 1st Uprising Memorial Hall, there is a hall called the Celebration Hall. This hall was used multiple times for meetings of the leaders of the uprising troops.

In the Celebration Hall, the guide Xiong Yanyan shared the story of He Long, which left a deep impression on her. At that time, under the white terror of the Kuomintang reactionaries, the number of Communists dropped from over 60,000 to 10,000, and many viewed the revolution as uncertain. In this situation, He Long, a senior general in the Kuomintang army, resolutely chose the revolutionary path. He submitted more than ten applications to join the party, and the party kept testing him. When Zhou Enlai informed him of the plan for the Nanchang Uprising, He Long firmly said: "I will completely follow the Communist Party's instructions. Whatever the party wants me to do, I will do it."

Xiong Yanyan said: "Whenever I talk about this history, I feel it is very great. At this moment, you won't feel that the revolution is just empty talk."

Guide Zhang Aifeng mentioned two other things: one is that the "Jiangxi Grand Hotel" had 96 guest rooms, and the uprising soldiers could not fit in, so they slept on the floor. The other is that the people of Nanchang cleaned several large water tanks used for raising goldfish and fire prevention in the hotel to provide water for the soldiers. The first story illustrates that the people's army led by the party has been disciplined since its inception. The second story shows the deep affection between the people's army and the people.

Elder Xu Xianzhiao, who participated in the uprising, said earnestly on the 80th anniversary of the founding of the party: "'Listen to the party and follow the party' applies to the people's army and to every party member." Liu Qimei, an old soldier of the New Fourth Army and a retired cadre from the Jiangxi Provincial Shipping Bureau, carefully toured all the exhibition halls of the memorial hall that he was very familiar with. Standing in front of the oil painting "Strategic Decision-Making," he expressed his feelings: "The noble will and spirit of serving the people of the pioneers of the Chinese revolution will always win the love of the people. I hope today's young people, especially our party cadres at all levels, will always keep the people in their hearts, think of the country, and contribute to the prosperity of the Chinese nation."

The person has passed away, but their style remains. In today's Nanchang, there are not only the August 1st Uprising Memorial Hall and the August 1st Uprising Memorial Tower, but also August 1st Square, August 1st Bridge, August 1st Park, August 1st Avenue, August 1st Hall, and even enterprises and names named after August 1st. The people of the hero city remember that glorious history and build a happy home with the spiritual wealth created by revolutionary predecessors. Nanchang, which has become a national model city for double support, a national sanitary city, and a national tourist city, is striding forward on the broad road of reform.

The gunfire of the uprising has passed for 74 years, and the firm ideals and beliefs of the Chinese Communists have taken deep root in the hero city. Heroes emerge from the hero city; in recent years, Nanchang has successively seen the emergence of heroic models such as "the people's intimate person Qiu Eguo," "the good guardian of the people Pan Kun," model worker Gong Lagen, who has silently contributed for 30 years, and the armed police Jiangxi Corps Third Detachment, which achieved remarkable success in the 1998 flood relief efforts, as well as a large number of national model workers and courageous citizens and soldiers, who have become the backbone of building a better Nanchang.
