Today, Xiao Junjun is going to introduce a special place to everyone. It not only witnessed the development of railways in Jiangxi but also the fiery years of the August 1st Uprising. It is the Niu Xing Station.
The construction of Niu Xing Station began with Jiangxi's first self-operated railway—the Nanxun Railway. In October 1904 (the ninth month of the 30th year of the Guangxu era), 111 people, including Jiangxi official Li Shengduo, jointly petitioned the court to establish the Jiangxi Railway Company in the provincial capital Nanchang, to "protect our interests and prevent foreign powers from coveting them." In 1905, the Jiangxi Provincial Railway Company was established, with its headquarters in Nanchang. At the same time, a "Brief Regulations for the Establishment of Railways in Jiangxi Province" was drafted, planning to build north-south trunk lines throughout the province. The first section from Jiujiang to Nanchang was planned as the first segment, the second segment from Nanchang to Ji'an, and the third segment from Ji'an to southern Jiangxi connecting to the Guangdong railway. The plan to build the railway from Jiujiang to Nanchang is the Nanxun Railway.
On January 23, 1907, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Nanxun Railway was held in Jiujiang, and it was completed and opened to traffic in June 1916, with a total length of 128 kilometers. Niu Xing Station was also built, becoming the first railway station in the provincial capital Nanchang.
