"Learning from Lei Feng Memorial Day" Themed Educational Activities

On March 4, 2016, in anticipation of the annual "Learn from Lei Feng Memorial Day," our museum's group of volunteer explainers visited Nanchang Zhushi Primary School to give a special lecture titled "The Eternal Model - Lei Feng" to the students. The entire lecture focused on: commemorating a model hero; sharing a spirit of dedication; and expressing a firm determination to carry on. The explainers first informed the students that March 5th is the Learn from Lei Feng Memorial Day, and shared many small stories about Lei Feng from aspects such as love for learning, diligent practice, unity and friendship, willingness to help others, and thriftiness.
On March 4, 2016, on the occasion of the annual "Learning from Lei Feng Memorial Day," our museum's group of volunteer lecturers entered Nanchang Zhushi Primary School to give students a special lecture titled "Forever a Role Model - Lei Feng." The entire lecture focused on: commemorating a model hero; sharing a spirit of dedication; and expressing a firm determination to carry it out.
The lecturer first informed the students that March 5 of each year is the Learning from Lei Feng Memorial Day, and shared many small stories about Lei Feng from aspects such as love for learning, diligent practice, unity and friendship, willingness to help others, and frugality.
The students were moved by the various deeds of Lei Feng. After listening, they not only eagerly raised their hands to share stories they knew about Lei Feng but also discussed how, as primary school students, they should embody the spirit of Lei Feng in their daily lives and studies, helping others within their capabilities without expecting anything in return.
At the end of the lecture, each student expressed their determination. Some students said, "I want to learn from Uncle Lei Feng, save my pocket money, and send it to children in disaster areas or impoverished regions to help them and progress together." Others expressed, "I want to learn from Uncle Lei Feng's spirit of willingness to dedicate and help others without expecting anything in return."
Throughout the lecture, students spoke freely, offered suggestions, and the classroom atmosphere was very lively. In order to fulfill the educational function of museums in the new era, the Nanchang August 1st Uprising Memorial Museum regularly collaborates with primary and secondary schools to carry out innovative patriotic education activities. By combining memorial days, red history, exemplary figures' deeds, and textbook knowledge, interactive teaching is implemented to stimulate learning enthusiasm and participation, thus achieving the effect of educating minors in a fun way.
